In the post
genomic era, efforts to understand oral cancer are aimed at obtaining genomic
and proteomic profiles for cancer management. The data being generated has to
be organized effectively. The database in this report information and external links for 242 genes involved in oral cancer,
interactions between them, their role in the biology of oral cancer, along with
clinical relevance. Each gene gives detailed information on aliases, function,
chromosomal location, mutations and SNPs, mRNA expression, protein
information, pathways involved and interacting proteins, expression of genes in
different tissues, and clinical correlates. For querying the database a search
engine retrieves the genes by symbol, name, chromosomal location, gains and
losses of chromosomal regions and molecular weight. Interactome
maps have been generated for the genes that are categorized into important
biological processes and molecular functions based on Gene-Ontology.
