ABSTRACT

Naghera M, George JJ, Kholia T., Computational function annotation of hypothetical proteins in Listeria monocytogenes EGD-e, Onl J Bioinform., 21(2): 114-120, 2020. A functional annotation of hypothetical proteins in Listeria monocytogenes EGD-e, is described. 436 hypothetical proteins were retrieved from NCBI RefSeq. 432 proteins were then assigned by sequence similarity PSI-BLAST; domain by InterProScan, Pfam, CDD, COGniter; secondary fold by PHYRE; 3D homology model search using Metaserver and biological function by PFP, ProtFun and TMHMM. Using these tools, we have annotated most of the hypothetical proteins with precision. We describe functional role of  uncharacterized proteins involved in metabolism, pathogenesis and other biological processes of L. monocytogenes EGD-e for identification of drug targets.

Keywords: Listeria monocytogenes EGD-e, hypothetical proteins, function annotation, listeriosis.
